First of all, I am very pleased with Amazon's timely 2-day delivery. I got it in 2 days.
I purchase this gps to use with my D200 and was really looking forward to try it out.
However, the moment I connected the gpn-1 to my D200, my lcd screen went black and auto
focus got locked. The only way to take a picture was to use manual focus. Yes, I did
managed to make a few shots using manual focus and confirmed that gps info was recorded in
the metadata. I would really want to like it but it did not work properly. I also contacted
Opteka support via email but did not get any help. Returning it!

This works perfectly. The only difference from the real one that I would like is a way to attach it to the strap instead of the hot shoe. With my D7000, it connects to the lower left side. But it's a bit in the way of using the left side controls on the back. The strap mount would fix that. Other that than, it works great and for the on-sale price of $50 was a bargain.

I purchased Opteka GPN-1 for Nikon D5100.The unit turns on and the green LED on top blinks at the beginning and eventually becomes steady. Unfortunately the position data never appears in the menu under GPS->Position or in the picture EXIF Meta data. That menu stays always grey. I fail to make it work and I am returning the unit. At this point is hard to tell if the unit is defective or the connecting cable is wrong.It would be nice to find how this unit performed on other D5100 cameras.
