I call it junk. I got this because I liked the red color and thought it would look nice on my counter. It was not too expensive either. It looks really nice. I like that it has a glass jar. It is one of the loudest blenders I have ever owned. But after 3 months of using it once a day for my protein shake it started to get a burning smell. It sounded like the blade assembly was getting stuck and not turning freely like it had before. I noticed when cleaning around the blade that it would not turn easily by hand when I pushed on it. I imagine this caused the motor to overheat and begin to smell with a burning smell. Not good at all. Even a relatively cheap blender should last longer than 3 months. Anyhow, I have a new one on order from Hamilton Beach, the cool looking liquid blu one. Another not too expensive blender that looks really cool so I will give it a try. But save your money on the Kalorik unless you really want the nice red color and you are willing to take a chance that it lasts longer than mine.

I bought this unit, like many others, on the recommendation from Cooks Illustrated. It was a fabulous blender for about a year. Then I noticed some juice leaking out the bottom bearing after any blend session more than a minute. Then last week, it stated making some weird noises and about 3 seconds later, it threw itself off my counter in a fit of exaltation. The bearing exploded, destroying the plastic coupler on the container side, and then chewed the rubber couler on the base unit apart. For under $40 a year, I'd still say this was a decent deal, but I'm now deciding if I buy a vitamix for 10 years of use, or another Kalorik. If I do go with the Kalorik, I just hope that when it explodes next year, it contains something easy to clean off of everything...
